Stop grinding your teeth by consciously easing your jaw. It is not unusual for your jaw to feel the brunt of the stress your body is absorbing. If you are having a stressful day, just tap the jaw lightly with your index finger, clench your jaw and breathe in deeply, then breathe out slowly. This should relieve some of the stress and help you feel better.
Gather your buddies together for an exhilarating run. This is a great way to help rid your body of harmful toxins, as they will be secreted through perspiration. Running and jogging are great stress reduction tools.
Keep the word "stress" out of your vocabulary. If you continue to tell yourself that you are stressed, chances are you will be stressed. It can become a habit to say the word or think the word over and over, but this can elevate the level of stress and you will actually feel it more. One way to combat this negative self talk is to find another word to describe what you're feeling.
There are some things that can cause you stress without you even realizing it. Things that can distract you for hours upon hours at a time like video games can actually cause you stress because you become distracted from giving your body the proper food or sleep it needs. This time could be better used for sleeping, or enjoying a healthy meal.
Make sure that you inform the people whom you are with regularly that they are not the cause of your stress. Frequently, spouses, and particularly children, feel like they are at fault. Your stress has to be something you handle, and should never be placed upon the shoulders of the people close to you.
If you have stress issues, take note of any body parts that you clench regularly. Many times, this includes the teeth, shoulders, fingers or lower back muscles. Whenever you recognize an area of tension in your body, consciously relax it by stretching. Doing so relaxes your mind and body.
